A quality problem solved

The assignment was to identify the cause of a worsening problem involving tearing of print-marked aluminium blister foils and to eliminate it.

An increasing problem, ranging from tears of a few millimetres to complete rupture, was observed with print-mark-controlled aluminium foils for tablet blister packs on a number of different, but structurally identical packaging machines. The machines and the aluminium foils had been used unchanged over a period of many years without any problems.

The possible cause of the tearing was eventually found after extensive and complex trouble-shooting involving microscopic tests undertaken by Prof. Dr. Angerhöfer at Munich University of Applied Sciences.

As a result, the client was able to prepare a facts-based complaint.
