CSL Behring – Consultancy project

BGH Consulting advises pharmaceutical company

In mid-August 2013 BGH Consulting was awarded a contract to review the current packaging processes of CSL Behring and to develop specific suggestions for optimization. The key areas of their evaluation were: production flow, quality of packaging, printing technology, packaging machines, packaging procedures and layout of the packaging facilities – in each case focused on secondary and tertiary packaging. Our consultants Dr. Martin Angerhöfer and Roland Kleissendorf visited 4 plants on 3 continents in the space of a month. A detailed final report including current-state analyses and specific action plans for each plant was completed on schedule in October.

The special challenge was to develop proposals that can be used by plants, which have very different levels of product complexity and have developed heterogeneously over the years in such a way as to ensure the maximum benefit for all plants. Thanks to the openness and high level of interest of those involved in the project this was achieved successfully. Synchronized plans were developed on the basis of a best practice model – from strategic approaches to pragmatic ad-hoc recommendations.

Matthias Loth, Director Global Packaging Strategy at CSL Behring: ”The results of the evaluation provide us with valuable starting points for further optimizing our packaging processes and materials with regard to safety and costs and aligning these processes internally. We were especially impressed by the technical expertise of the consultants and their wealth of experience in the pharmaceuticals industry.“
